And one more thing...

Dear hubby Steve got the bright idea from Gabe that he could sell his iPhone classic on ebay for more than the cost of the iPhone 3G... and then of course, he would have the latest & greatest. Well, after days of no nibble on ebay, Steve finds out last night his auction has ended with $425 winning bid on the old phone. So he has to go to the Apple store today to get a phone (since the old one is going into the mail tomorrow)... Gets to the store around 10:45 (store opens @ 11), calls me around 12:15 to say I NEED to get down to the mall because I'm the account holder w/Cingular/AT&T and I need to be there so he can get the phone. 3 more hours later, with trips to Corner Bakery, Pottery Barn, and the GAP (4 pairs of pants for $50 - 3 for me, 1 for him)...we are the proud owners of the new iPhone. And I say "we" because I had to pay for it.

Now, on top of the 5 hours of drama invested by Dear Hubby, I had to drag myself to the mall w/out a shower. I had been in the middle of vacuuming, and wasn't planning to clean myself up until after I was done cleaning the kitties' room and vacuuming. AND, yes AND... I'm of course wearing my t-shirt from Baltimore that says "I'm crabby, leave me alone." Said t-shirt elicited numerous comments from the various folks at Corner Bakery & Pottery Barn, and elicted snobby looks from the other shoppers in the mall. *Ugh* Needless to say, I'm still not showered @ 9pm, and I really don't care since I don't think I smell *too* bad...

If I hadn't gotten all the fabric ironed, I might be worried about the wasted day (at least for me - Steve is pretty darn happy).

*sigh* off to work tomorrow...

Fabric Goodness

I finally got all of my new fabrics ironed today, and I always love when I see the photos of great fabrics blogged...

Here is the fabric that will go for a very simple quilt to go on the back of my couch:

These are going to be baby quilts for friends - based on the colors, I don't think its a stretch to guess the sexes of both babies:

And the Flutterby fabrics for my 1st big quilt - for my bedroom... I ordered a 40 fat quarter pack from Hancocks:

And the random pile - some ideas are floating in my head for this grouping of fabrics... they are just lower on the priority list than the above:

from top to bottom:

• 1st 4 are fat quarters I picked up at the Long Beach quilt show - includes Amy Butler Lotus, some Kaffe Fassett
• then there's fabricworm's Japanese linen/cotten finds - airplanes & scooters
• the next 2 are from M&L Fabrics discount store in Anaheim (I love that place - usually year-old fabrics (and older) that are a lot cheaper than anywhere I can find online or in any of the local quilt/fabric stores
• and "Ecletic" obtained from Pink Chalk Fabrics about a month ago - I had to buy one of the patterns, and fell in love with this fabric, so of course, I had to buy it!

That's it for fabric...now to get working on cutting & piecing! :)

My Wordle

So I saw this a few days ago, but it didn't work with my blog until I figured out how to enable RSS feeds. But anyways, here is my Wordle:




This thing takes words from your blog/website/whatever and groups them in a cloud, word size is based on frequency of use. I'm kind of surprised that "went" seems to be my top word. But maybe because I'm always doing something??

Randomness

Ok, so I finally discovered Google Reader - now I can just track the quilty blogs that way for new posts, rather than clicking on each one to see if anything new has popped up. Plus, I guess I can access Google reader from the celly phone, so that's nice too (vacays, etc.).

This weekend, I rode Sammy, went on a mission to find new riding boots (failing to find a matched pair of the boots I liked but found them online for cheaper), and went out with J&G for G's birthday. We went to Bella Terra, ate Italian, shopped a little (REI was having a friends & family sale, so of course Steve had to buy his water purifier filter thingy), and then went to see The Dark Knight from the 2nd row. Needless to say, I think we all got a little dizzy at certains points being so close to the screen - coupled with the fact the movie was filmed on IMAX film, so everything just seemed closer, more in-your-face. Sunday was a day of nothingness - Steve & I walked to our new favorite pizza place to split a calzone, and stopped at all "For Sale" signs along the way, wishing and hoping that maybe we too could be homeowners someday. :(

Rolling blackout?

So our power went off this morning around 7 for about 45 minutes - came back on just in time for both of us to leave for work, good thing since we have a garage door opener...

So I like to read this blog by Old Red Barn Co, which is giving away this beautiful quilt, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to give away something like that to some random person out in cyberspace...but I would like to win it!

Progress

Making progress on Liz's quilt - its going to be done by Friday, cuz I have a bunch of bags to make before she gets here. But I'm attempting free-motion quilting for the first time (just for the borders), which is scary, but much faster than straight quilting w/the walking foot.

We also need to clean this weekend... :(

Back in the Game...

So my friend Mir has inspired me to start posting again after a 1 1/2 year lapse...

Life is always crazy, which is probably why I haven't gotten back on the blog-wagon for a while...

But I'm having way too much fun reading posts about quilting, so I feel inspired to post again.

Plus I need an outlet for my angst...

So here's what's new w/me:

*I'm getting to ride again - friends of Steve's from work bought a cute lil mustang named Sammy, and they're letting me ride him in an effort to keep him exercised. So hopefully once a weekend, and maybe once during the week.

*My poor car got scraped - its less than 5 months old! Boo! :(

How sad ... ok, this is all i'm motivated to type for now...
